Aaron was the project coordinator for the team and lead PCB development, in which he learned the ins and outs of Altium Designer as well as PCB assembly.
Connect with me on LinkedInAidan worked on fully understanding Raman spectroscopy, which included understanding the optical components needed and their placements as well as the intensity and wavelength of the Raman signal we should expect. Aidan also took lead on PCB assembly and optical alignment.
Connect with me on LinkedInVictor was in charge of CADing the chamber, understanding the software and firmware, and designing the team website.
Connect with me on LinkedInAdrian led hardware development, which included choosing the major electronics components we were going to use.
Connect with me on LinkedInProf. Goeckel served as team advisor, who gave some of his time every week to discuss our project. Whenever we hit hurdles we couldn't get over, he worked with us to figure out ways to either get over or help us find a new approach.
WebsiteOur evaluators, Prof. Liu and Prof. Niffenegger have seen every major step of our project, and they have also seen our struggles. They have pushed us to do better each and everytime, and have also given a useful outside perspective.
Prof. Niffenegger was working on a similar project at the time of our project and gave us many insights into how we could improve our setup as well as the many specifics for what our next steps should be.
Prof. Arbabi, a researcher in the area of nanophotonics, flat optics, and photonic IC's, has worked with us since the beginning of our project. He has given us direction, clarified any questions we had from reading articles, and even lent us thousands of dollars worth of equipment. Without his assistance and contributions, we would have never been able to do this project.
Esben is a highschool teacher in Denmark who did spectroscopy as a hobby. On his Hackaday profile linked below, he has several projects related to spectroscopy, and also has his own website where he has driver software with instructions available to drive the TCD1304 CCD. WIthout some of Esben's help and his drivers for the CCD, we would not have been able to get up and running with the CCD as quickly as we did.
