CEE434 Students have toured many structures and some fabrication shops over the years. The links below show some of the structures and sites visited. I think you will find many of these photos insightful to the classwork.

Student Union Renovation and Addition- This project had some very unusual details in the existing structure and required major modifications of the existing foundation. It includes both new and older steel detailing.

South College - Beautiful new structure that merged new and historic components. Some interesting upgrades to the existing building including threading a new structure inside the historic building and underpinning of walls.

Eisenberg Addition - See the underlying structure for the curving facade.

Physical Sciences Building - Two tours were taken, one of the steel construction and then an AGC tour of the immense MEP involved. The attached historic structure was moved brick by brick and strengthened as well.

UMass Champions Center - Large span roof and braced frame with thermal break details, some unusual columns and architectural facade overview photos.

UMass Football Training Facility and Stadium Press Boxes -This structure has some unusual sections in the press box supporting structure and cantilevered sections. The training facility has some nice architectural features shown and some unexpected structural engineering features.

UMass Academic Building - A short set providing a brief overview of the project, but with a very extensive architectural mockup structure.

UMass Science Center - This is one of the more complete sets of photos, showing of all aspects of construction including foundation work, steel framing, ductwork and architectural features. We were able to visit two different semesters since the two buildings were constructed sequentially with the first being finished inside when the second had the steel still exposed. The slides are separated by topic.

UMass Integrated Science Building -These photos show many aspects of the construction process including photos of the sequence of cladding installation.

UMass Recreation Center - You've probably been in here many times and noticed the exposed space trusses. Lots of other interesting features as well.

Baystate Medical Center - A structure with very interesting geotechnical/foundation construction. The building has some unique features compared to the other tours.

UMass Central Heating Plant - A unique structure with the pages divided into separate features.

Amherst Geology Building - A steel building with some unusual framing to accomodate the architectural features.

ELAB II Building - An overview of the construction process of a laboratory/classroom building.

Cooley Dickenson Hospital Addition - A pretty straightforward structure, very good overview of typical construction.

Eisenberg School of Management - One of the first tours I took a class on, with limited access.

Ice Rink Addition - A small scale, light gage metal framing job.

Fabrication Shops - A tour of Structural Welding and Engineering led by Gary Visconte, an overview of what goes on in a large fabrication shop.
