Evaluation of NOM and DBP Precursors in SWSC West Parish Raw Water Sources

The purpose of this research project was to (1) identify and quantify major sources of natural organic matter entering Springfield’s drinking water supply; (2) determine the relative importance of these sources as DBP precursors, (3) evaluate the role of beaver activity on NOM levels, and (4) propose watershed management strategies to reduce precursors and, ultimately, DBPs in the finished water
This project was funded by the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission.
