Intro

In EVE we have a Sievers 800 Total Organic Carbon Analyzer that has been modified so it can serve as an Organic Carbon Detector (OCD) for HPLC. It is set up to be used with one of our two Alliance High Performance Liquid Chromatographs. These are standard HPLCs, capable of using most columns at starndard LC resolution. They operate with a photodiode array detector, and a fluorescent detector, but they can also be configured to serve as an inlet to the Waters Quattro Micro triple quadrupole mass spectrometer and the Varian ICP/MS. The OCD is most commonly used with a size exclusion colmn and and it must be used with an aqueous mobile phase.
