Since a
Central Heating Plant at UMass requires significant mechanical and electrical
equipment, there were some interesting features.
First, independent
supports were provided for piping, ductwork, and other major utilities and
equipment.
Large trenches
were also provided in the foundation to house some of the piping.
Smaller
conduits and piping run up the columns, as in a typical structure.
