Electromagnetic Soil Moisture Sensor

ESMS

The Electromagnetic Soil Moisture Sesnsor (ESMS) allows its users to see moisture levels of different regions of their landscapes. Our device first detects electromagnetic waves radiated from the soil. That electromagnetic wave is picked up by our micro-strip patch antenna. The signal is then processed in a microwave receiver network and the date is saved on an SD card. The data in the SD card is then processed in a computer to get position vs. brightness temperature coordinates of the landscape. The coordinates are then taken to create a thermal map on Matlab of the landscape.
