Science Building - Concrete Deck
The concrete slabs are placed over metal deck (see underside in top left). The currogations cause the slab to span in one direction. Next shear studs are welded to the beam flanges below to provide composite action, here in pairs. Metal wire fabric is used for temperature and shrinkage reinforcement. Around a column (bottom) there are additional pieces of reinforcement to prevent slab cracking at the flange edges.
