Brief Synopsis: The opportunities for
students entering college in the fields of engineering and science are quite
diverse and lead to satisfying and rewarding careers. This presentation
will provide an overview of the various engineering and science fields including
mechanical and chemical engineering, biological process sciences, and computer
science and engineering. Topics covered include a general overview of
the course curriculum, a review of the types of industrial opportunities
commonly obtained with these degrees, and the opportunity for undergraduate
research within these fields. Finally, the presentation will conclude
with a brief introduction to the science and engineering challenges developing
for the coming generation including clean water availability, energy and
renewable fuel production, and sustainable food processing.
