UMass UTC 2009 Outstanding Student of the Year

Michael Razo, M.S. 2010

Mr. Razo's research focused on travel behavior analysis, especially route choice behavior in a transportation network with risky travel times and real-time traffic information. He employed an experimental approach to the problem by collecting data from human subjects under hypothetical scenarios and used discrete choice modeling techniques coupled with theories from behavioral economics to analyze the data. Michael has a multidisciplinary background, with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mr Razo received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from UMass in 2010; the title of his thesis is, “Route Choice Behavior in Risky Networks with Real-Time Information.”
