UTC Student of the Year

Each Year a student is selected as Student of the Year, highlighting his or her achievements and promise for future contributions to the transportation field.

UMass UTC 2007 Outstanding Student of the Year

Kevin Moriarty, M.S. 2008

Mr. Moriarty’s research focused on the use of simulation models in work zone safety and evacuation planning, and has been recognized by the Transportation Research Board (TRB) as well as the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He presented two of his co-authored papers at the TRB annual meeting in Washington D.C., after which they were published in the 2008 TRB Annual Meeting Proceedings. He was the first author on both papers, demonstrating his initiative to produce research projects and disseminate new ideas and concepts. Mr. Moriarty received his M.S. in Civil Engineering from UMass in 2008; his thesis is entitled, “Modeling the Impacts of Highway work Zone Strategies Along Interstates in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.”
