UTC Student of the Year

Each Year a student is selected as Student of the Year, highlighting his or her achievements and promise for future contributions to the transportation field.

New England (Region 1) UTC 2008 Outstanding Student of the Year

Heather Rothenberg, Ph.D. 2009

Ms. Rothenberg’s research focused on transportation safety and policy, examining such areas as teen-driver policy, older-driver safety, injury outcomes from crashes, and commercial vehicle safety. She has a multidisciplinary background, with a Bachelor’s degree from Smith College, where she majored in sociology and minored in public policy, and a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation from UMass. Ms. Rothenberg received her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from UMass in 2009; her dissertation is entitled, “Formulating Older Driver Licensing Policy: An Evaluation of Older Driver Crash History and Performance.”
