First Annual Conference on Cellulosic Biofuels
University of Massachusetts Amherst
September 19, 2008
Organized by The Institute for Massachusetts Biofuels Research (TIMBR)
Those interested in the Commonwealth’s developing biofuels industry are invited to participate in the First Annual Conference on Cellulosic Biofuels this September 19th. The conference is hosted by The Institute for Massachusetts Biofuels Research (TIMBR) at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. TIMBR is a growing interdisciplinary research group focused on expanding biofuels research on the Amherst campus and enabling translational research through strategic partnerships between academia, industry, and state and federal government (www.ecs.umass.edu/timbr).
During the conference you will hear about the latest developments in biofuels research at UMass Amherst and other universities and government labs, learn about the opportunities that lie ahead for biofuels in the region from state policy makers, and connect with others from industry, academia, and government who are eager to expand their network of partners and collaborators in the biofuels industry. Topics covered will include emerging research in catalytic and microbial routes to biofuels, the Massachusetts biofuels industry, and more. Our Keynote speaker, Michael Ladisch of Purdue University, will discuss the road to a renewable carbon economy, – a talk not to be missed. Other confirmed speakers include Dwayne Breger, Manager of the Renewable Energy and Climate Change Group at the Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources and Andrew Schuyler, Director of the Northeast Biofuels Collaborative (see attached program).
TIMBR has already received a grant from the UMass Amherst Research Leadership in Action Program to sponsor development of this important conference. We are offering additional sponsorship opportunities to companies interested in supporting conference activities. We invite you to take advantage of this unique opportunity for advertising and building awareness of your company or organization within the growing Massachusetts biofuels industry. Sponsorship options include underwriting specific events (buffet lunch, poster session, keynote lecture, and evening reception) as well as opportunities for advertising and brand exposure on conference marketing materials. Other sponsor benefits include preferential access to faculty and students, and complimentary registration for a selected number of company employees. Reduced sponsorship rates are available for small businesses.
A limited number of event sponsorships are available. For more information about the conference and/or sponsorship opportunities, please contact:
