Problem Statement
Current virtual reality systems use visuals and sounds to immerse the user in a virtual world. These systems lack the ability to convey a sense of touch. They require the user to hold a controller in a fixed position which decreases immersion.
There are VR add-ons that can track hands, however without anything stopping the fingers, fingers can go through objects in the virtual world. TrueTouch is an add-on that simulates the sensation of touch, specifically the act of grasping an object in the virtual world.
System Specs
- Wireless system
- Rechargeable battery of minimum 1 hour of life
- Single glove with system weighs no more than 2lbs
- Braking system and vibration activates within 100ms of seeing the object being touched in virtual world
- Braking system able to withstand 20N of pulling force from finger-bending strength
