MIE 318: Design of Mechanisms

Course Outline:

Introduction to the fundamentals of mechanism design with particular emphasis on four-bar planar mechanisms. Study of kinematics and its application in the synthesis and analysis of mechanisms. Study of other types of mechanisms such as cams and gear trains.

Text Book: Design of Machinery by Robert L. Norton, McGraw-Hill, Inc., 1992

Grade Distribution:

• Design Project (Proposal, Model, Presentation, Report): 50%
• Exams (2) and Quizzes: 50%
