Back to DACS Laboratory.

The MK 46 is the first optronic weapon director to be deployed on a U.S. naval combatant. It is equipped with a high resolution daylight television camera, either 8-12 micron or 3-5 micron wavelength thermal imagining capability. A light-weight version has been uniquely designed the same capabilities for fast patrol boats, including those employed by many nations for drug enforcement, counter insurgency low-enforcement and the protection of territorial fishing rights. Together with Prof. Ted Djaferis (ECE Department), the DACS Lab is working with Kollmorgen, Inc., on the application of robust multivariable control techniques to this class of products.
