MEP staff members can assist students in the financial aid process through group presentations and individual counseling. The office informs students of scholarship opportunities and assists them in the application process.

Annual Student Recognition Ceremony


Every spring, seniors and other students are recognized for their leadership and academic accomplishments. Awards include tuition, scholarship, and other monetary awards. Traditionally, this event and awards are sponsored by the contributions of the Industrial Advisory Group. Students, faculty, staff, and Industrial Advisory Group members attend this event.

ALANA Job Fair

Together with other African American, Latino, Asian, and Native American (ALANA) organizations on campus, MEP actively participates in a job fair that brings to the campus many companies interested in recruiting minority students.

This year Alana Job Fair will be held on February 16, 2006 in the Campus Center Auditorium from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)


MEP staff serves as advisor to SHPE and NSBE These are student chapters of national organizations under MEP umbrella whose aim is to retain, support, and assist African-American, Hispanic, and other minorities who have obtained or are in the process of obtaining their engineering and/or science degree. Each organization provides career fairs, workshops, and professional chapters as support for student members. They also provide a technical networking forum, and above all a place for people of similar ethnicity to gather with others in order to share their views and feelings of their work environments.
