Location: The University of Massachusetts, Amherst is located in the in the scenic Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, 90 miles from Boston and 175 miles from New York City.  The campus provides a rural setting close to major urban centers.  Amherst is served by major airlines through Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Connecticut (about 1 1/4 hours by car) and Logan Airport in Boston (about 2 1/2 hours by car). Membrane water and wastewater treatment facilities are located a short distance from the campus, athletic fields are available for softball or volleyball matches and there are excellent hiking trails near the campus. Kayak and canoe rentals are available on the Connecticut River.

Dormitory accommodations will be provided in air-conditioned residence halls on the UMass Campus.  Sign up for residence hall lodging through the online registration form.

Additional accommodations are available at the Campus Center Hotel  (please request room block 2048).  Additional hotels are available in Amherst and the nearby town of Hadley.

Airport Transportation: Two options are available for transportation from Bradley Airport in Hartford Connecticut. You may choose to rent a car (for driving directions click here) or you can contact either Seemo Shuttle or Valley Transporter and arrange for pick up at the airport (approximately $45 each way).  If you're flying into Boston's Logan Airport or staying in downtown Boston and want to arrange for a shared shuttle to UMass Amherst on Sunday, August 10th, please contact Marie at msilver@umassk12.net by August 1, 2008.  Note that the cost of the shuttle will vary depending on the number of passengers.

Parking: If you are staying in either the dorms or the campus center hotel you will receive a parking pass with your accommodations. All others interested in parking on campus will be provided with a discount card for the campus center garage or a pass for free parking at a peripheral lot with your registration materials.
