Michael Knodler,
Jr., Ph.D. - Faculty Advisor - mknodler@ecs.umass.edu
Dr. Michael Knodler is an
Assistant Professor in the Transportation Engineering Program in the
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of
Massachusetts Amherst. In addition, he is a Principal Investigator with
UMassSAFE and Associate Director of the Human Performance Laboratory. His
main areas of research are related to traffic safety, operations, design,
and education. Dr.
Knodler is involved with ITE at multiple levels, in addition to being
Faculty Advisor for the UMass Chapter he extends his participation to both
MAITE and NEITE chapters. Dr. Knodler enjoys participating in both the
social and academic aspects of the ITE student chapter.
Steven
Tupper - President - smtupper@student.umass.edu
Steven is a
Masters student
in the Transportation Program at UMass.
He completed his Bachelors Degree in Civil and
Environmental Engineering in
May 2009. He began work in transportation engineering as
an Undergraduate Research Assistant to Dr. Ni in Spring 2007. Since then he
has been doing research for the department under Dr. Knodler. He spent the
last two summers working as a traffic technician for the Cape Cod Commission
Regional Planning Agency. He has been a member of ITE since 2007. He was also
the President of the UMass Chapter of the Chi Epsilon Honors Society.
In his spare time he enjoys golfing and cheering for Red Sox.
Samuel Gregorio - Vice President -

Samuel is a Masters student in the Transportation
Engineering program. He completed his Bachelors Degree in Civil and
Environmental Engineering back in
May 2008. Sam is interested in studying traffic operations and traffic
safety. Within the department, Sam is the former Recording Secretary of the
ASCE Chapter and has worked for both the UMass Transportation Center and
UMassSAFE as a student intern. Over the past two summers, he has intern in
the Maintenance and Traffic Operations Divsion of MassHighway in both Boston
and Northampton. When not thinking about his school work, Sam enjoys
baseball, hiking, camping, and more baseball.
Deanna Peabody - Secretary and

Deanna is a Masters student in the Civil and Environmental
Engineering program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Summer 2007
she participated in the College of Engineering Research Experience for
Undergraduates Program (REU) where she worked in the Transportation
Engineering department. Following this program she continued to work in
transportation as a researcher with the UMassSAFE Traffic Safety Research
Program and became involved with ITE. Out side of engineering, Deanna is a
member of the UMass Amherst Synchronized Skating Team.
Jeff Young - Undergraduate

Jeff
is a Jr in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program. He is looking to
concentrate in transportation engineering after he graduates in a graduate
program or in a future company centralized around transportation. Outside of
his academic life, he loves the city of Boston and the Red Sox, as well as
skiing, hiking and all other sorts of outdoor activities. He also plays
volleyball for the Umass Amherst Minutemen.
Alex Lovejoy - Feshman

Alex is a Freshman in the Civil Engineering program and Iis also the
Freshman Liaison for the ASCE and a member of the AGC. He is looking into
the transportation or structural concentrations. I am very interested in the
field and Ihe is experienced with AutoCad 2006 through 2010. He enjoys
sports, music, and his field/school believe it or not. He hopes to make a
good impact on people's lives every opportunity he gets.
Sam Colarusso - Freshman

Sam is a Civil and Environmental Engineering
Undergraduate, Class of 2013. She was born in Arlington, MA. This will be
her first year joining the ITE UMass Amherst Chapter. When not
in class, Sam enjoys camping,skating, spending time with friends and family,
and rooting for the Bruins.
