Michael Knodler, Jr., Ph.D.  -  Faculty Advisor  -  mknodler@ecs.umass.edu

Dr. Michael Knodler is an Assistant Professor in the Transportation Engineering Program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  In addition, he is a Principal Investigator with UMassSAFE and Associate Director of the Human Performance Laboratory.  His main areas of research are related to traffic safety, operations, design, and education.  Dr. Knodler is involved with ITE at multiple levels, in addition to being Faculty Advisor for the UMass Chapter he extends his participation to both MAITE and NEITE chapters.  Dr. Knodler enjoys participating in both the social and academic aspects of the ITE student chapter.

David is a PhD student in the Transportation Engineering program.  His  areas of research interest are traffic operations, highway safety, and traffic sensor technology. He believes that truly comprehensive solutions to the complex transportation issues facing society will only be achieved by building close collaborations with academics and practicing professionals. David has been involved with ITE for over five years and has served as the UMass Student Chapter's Consultant Liaison and Vice President.  Whenever time permits, David also enjoys attending live music and standup comedy performances.

 

 

Stacy Metzger  -  Vice President  -  smetzger@student.umass.edu

 

Stacy is in the Transportation Engineering Master's program working with Dr. Knodler and UMassSafe.  She is interested in studying traffic safety and Emergency Medical Services operations. Specifically, her thesis research will be examining the links between traffic safety and hospital proximity, road classification type and road category (urban vs. rural) by using a combination of CODES data linkages and GIS software.  In her spare time, Stacy enjoys playing almost any sport and can sometimes be found organizing for fun.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Deanna Peabody - Secretary - dpeabody@student.umass.edu

Deanna is a junior in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at the
University of Massachusetts Amherst. Last summer she participated in the
College of Engineering Research Experience for Undergraduates Program where
she worked in the Transportation Engineering department.  Following this
program she continued to work in transportation as a researcher with the
UMassSAFE Traffic Safety Research Program and became involved with ITE.  Out
side of engineering, Deanna is a member of the UMass Amherst Synchronized
Skating Team.

 

Kim Rudy - Treasurer - krudy@student.umass.edu

Kim is a Civil and Environmental Engineering Undergraduate, Class of 2009. She was born and raised in West Springfield, MA. Last summer, she worked in the Transportation Engineering Department through the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program. She currently is a Research Assistant for Dr. Daiheng Ni in the Transportation Engineering Department. When not in Marston Hall, Kim enjoys billiards, dancing to some tunes, and spending time with friends.

 

 

Arianna Mickee - Outreach - amickee@gmail.com

Arianna is a graduate student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Transportation Engineering, at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Her research is currently focused upon crash data quality and traffic safety.  The focus of her thesis pertains to methods of identifying crash data quality issues within the state of Massachusetts. Her interests also include geometric design and traffic operations. In her spare time, she likes to workout, especially step classes, and enjoys interesting books.

 

Jenn Kennedy - Webmaster - jrkenned@student.umass.edu

Jenn is an Undergraduate student, majoring in Civil & Environmental Engineering, with a concentration in Transportation.  She has worked as a researcher for UMassSafe (a traffic safety organization within the Transportation Engineering Department) since Fall 2005, they got her hooked into the field and now she hopes to continue into Graduate School with the Transportation Engineering Program.  Even when out of the office she enjoys hanging out with all her fellow ITE members.  And when there is free time outside of the engineering world she enjoys skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, the beach, and just enjoying UMass with her friends.
