UMass Recognized as International Outstanding Student Chapter

The UMass Amherst Student Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers was recognized as the International Outstanding Student Chapter at the ITE Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas in August. The award was presented in recognition of its outstanding chapter organization, activities, and efforts to foster the close association of students with practicing professionals.

Our chapter is thankful for this honor and would like to thank ITE for its continued support for student chapters throughtout its international organization.
Transportation Research Board Conference

The 89th Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting and Exhibit will be held January 10th - 14th in Washington D.C. Those who are attending are encouraged to visit the ITE Student Member Reception at 6:00 pm on Monday January 11th at ITE Headquarters.

11th Annual Techincal Day Meeting

The 11th Annual UMass ITE Technical Day Meeting is schedule on March 11th, 2010. As it is the 20th Anniversary of the student Chapter, alumni are encouraged to attend the event and will receive a complimentary anniversary t-shirt. Details of the event can be found in the attached flyer. The keynote speaker this year will be Jeffrey Mullan, Secretary and CEO of MassDOT.

First Chapter Meeting of Spring Semester

Trip / Parking Generation Project

The Student Chapter has been awarded the opportunity to participate in the 2010 ITE Trip Generation Data Collection Project. The Student Chapter will be collecting data on garden centers located on Rt 116 north of campus. All are encouraged to assist in this project. To get involved, email Steven Tupper at
