We are very excited to be going on a tour of Astra-Zeneca! This is our first opportunity to tour this facility in Waltham. Sign-ups are limited to the first 20 people. Please come to Dr. Hardy's presentation on Nov 26, 2007 to sign up. Please bring your resume! Astra-Zeneca is HIRING! They were excited when we asked to submit our resumes. Also, wear business casual, with closed-toed shoes. We need drivers as well.

Dr Mark Hardy will present a detailed overview of the Drug Development process. If you're interested in working in the Biotech industry, but don't know how you can fit in, please come! Stephen Yu, Director of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Scherling Plough Presentation, will give a general overview of the roles and opportunities for chemical engineers in drug development, and talk with you about skills and training requirements, and key competencies for success. Please come even if you are not an engineer and see how your major can be applied outside of research and development!

Abbott Laboratories (www.abbott.com) will be hosting a information session at UMass. They are currently hiring for summer internships and full-time positions. Learn about the company, why you want to work there, how you can best present yourself as a candidate, and how to apply. We need a strong ISPE attendence at this event so Abbott will return next year.

We are honored to go to the Genzyme Research Facility in Framingham, MA. We will be leaving at 11am in the Engineering Lab II lobby. Dress is business casual. Please email Pre Katti to sign up, though spots are limited.

Congratulations to Prerana Katti, Jeremy Sauer, and Laurene Dykiel for being offered summer research postitions at Weyth Biopharma, Millenium Pharmaceuticals, and Genzyme respectively. These offers were based primarily on their involvement with ISPE!

Congratulations to Dawn Eriksen for being awarded 1st prize at the ISPE National Research Poster Competition for her poster entitled "Lycopene production based on the Quorum-sensing system of E.coli". See the Photo gallery for some great pictures!

This website is now running from its permanent home on the ECS servers. Please bear with us while we work out a few details with them and get everything working. In the meantime, the contact forms will not be functional so please use the emails given on the contact page.

We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new web site. We hope that it will prove to be a useful tool for keeping up to date with activities of the UMASS Student Chapter.
Since we are still actively developing the site, we would appreciate it if you kept us informed of any problems you encounter or features you would like to see added.
