Housing Choices at UMass Amherst

UMass Amherst offers many different types of housing choices for our students. We have five residential areas for every type of student: Central, Northeast, Orchard Hill, Southwest and Sylvan. Please visit the housing web site for all the details.
The College of Engineering offers two residential academic programs for incoming freshmen: the Residential Academic Program (RAP) and the Commonwealth College Engineering Options Program (EnginOptions).

RAP

| RAP is a residential living/learning community for incoming freshmen located in two residential areas: Northeast and Orchard Hill. The RAP communities - in Crabtree, Knowlton, and Dickinson Halls - each have a mentor living on the same floor as the freshmen to provide a friendly, accessible source of information to help with the transition from high school into the University setting.

EnginHonors RAP

EnginHonors RAP is a residential living/learning community for incoming honors freshmen located in Orchard Hill (Dickinson Hall). It accommodates approximately 48 Commonwealth College Engineering students living on one or more floors in Dickinson Hall. Students can elect to join this program during orientation, so it is on first come, first serve basis.
