Tsuan Hua Feng

(Feb. 17, 1918 - Sept. 4, 1986)

Tsuan Hua "Tom" Feng served on the faculty at the University of Massachusetts for 31 years.  Professor Feng Formaljoined the faculty in September of 1951 after receiving  his B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1949 from Pei-Yang University in Tienstsin, China, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Wisconsin in 1946 and 1950.  Dr. Feng was appointed as the first Sanitary Engineering professor at the University.  In 1964 he established the Sanitary Engineering Program, which was later renamed the Environmental Engineering Program, and served as Director until 1974.  In the 1971-2 academic year, Tom was on sabbatical leave serving as a visiting professor at Taiwan University and the National Research Counicil of the Republic of China. Upon his retirement in 1982, Tom was appointed Emeritus Professor. Click here for more pictures of Tom.
