Overview

The Network Systems Lab is headed by Prof. Tilman Wolf and is part of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

The research focus of the Network Systems Lab is on the design of programmable network devices and their applications. Programmability expands the capabilities of networks from end-to-end data communication to more complex data forwarding and processing tasks. This network processing paradigm aims to achieve the necessary flexibility and adaptability in networking infrastructure to enable the integration of increasingly heterogeneous end-systems and networks into the today's Internet.

Current research projects encompass network processor design, network measurement, application mapping for highly parallel embedded systems, and embedded system security.
