WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS CENTER

UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AMHERST

Mission of the Wireless Communications Center

The Wireless Communications Center (WCC) within the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst will offer a cross-disciplinary program of research and education targeted at the rapidly emerging needs of the wireless communications industry. The WCC will be committed to developing a strong partnership with the wireless industry necessary for a relevant program of systems and technology oriented research. A unique feature of the WCC is its priority on the treatment of the complete wireless communications system, for both research and educational purposes. Participating faculty members of the WCC have expertise that ranges from antennas, RF and microwave circuits, modulation methods, coding theory, VLSI design for low power, and networking protocols. The goal of the Center will be to advance the state-of-the-art in wireless systems research, and to provide graduate education for a new generation of wireless engineers.
