ECE 551 Class Messages
This page will be used for class messages related ONLY to the
LECUTRES. Check it
often if you want to keep abreast of the latest developments.
- 7/7 Some pointers to
public domain VHDL references via ftp.
- 7/7 A
free version of PSpice and some other tools are available.
- 7/7 A glance at the new MIPS R10000 (T5) Microprocessor (to be used in Silicon Graphics and other workstations).
- 9/6 The first class meeting will be in Marcus 220 at 2:30. The class
will be short and mostly administrative. You will be encouraged
to familiarize yourself with the laboratory at the end of the class.
- 9/11 Lecture 1 was in the VIP studio C in Marcus at
3:35pm. The lectures in this course are a new component and emphasize
computer manufacturing issues. Unless you hear otherwise, there will always be a
lecture on Monday afternoons in the VIP studio. You must come
to these lectures since short quizzes are given at the end of
each one! A homework assignment will also be handed out relating
to each lecture. Homework 1 was handed out and is
due on Monday, 9/18 in Lecture.
- 9/13 I sent out an email message to the whole class
describing some changes in office hours, etc. I will try and continue
to put a copy of all emails I (or the TAs )send out to the class into this file.
The file will get quite large. Just go to the end of the file to find the most
recent messages.
- 9/14 I just updated the Final Projects page
with some more details and ideas.
- 9/18 Lecture 2 in VIP Studio C. Homework
1 is due. The Guest Lecturer will be Bill Larkins
from Deka R&D. He will describe the design and manufacturer of board-level
electro-mechanical systems for medical applications.
- 9/21 I updated the lab hours
- 9/25 Lecture 3 in VIP Studio C. Burleson will lecture on manufacturing
methods of computer system components (ie. VLSI). There will be a quiz at the
end of the lecture and a brief homework will be handed out.
- 10/2 No lecture due to lab extension for on-campus students. Fear not,
there will still be a total of 10 lectures for the series.
