| Welcome to the Compound Semiconductor Laboratory in the Electrical & Computer Engineering Department at the University of Massachusettes at Amherst. The CSL, under the direction of Prof. Kei May Lau, is an organized research unit within the School of Engineering. Founded in 1983, the laboratory serves as a focus for the research and development of novel compound semiconductor devices for high frequency and photonic applications. We emphasize experimental studies of III-V compound semiconductor materials and devices. Our research activities include: semiconductor device design and modeling, epitaxial growth by organometallic chemical vapor deposition, materials characterization, device fabrication and circuit applications. Students in our laboratories are encouraged to explore various related areas of research. |
