Problem Statement
Lobster fishermen currently have no means of
checking the contents of their traps without pulling them to the
surface. This inevitably leads to wasted time when fishermen pull up a
trap that is empty yet still contains bait. Our Lobster Assistant
device will eliminate this inefficiency by providing fishermen
information about the contents of their traps without having to pull
them out of the water. A camera inside the trap will take a photo of
the contents of the trap, relay this photo to a buoy at the surface,
where it can be transmitted to the fishermen via a user
interface.
