Requirements Specification

Special Restrictions

  • Project budget of $600 set by course standard.
  • Fan should have metal blades

Principle of Operation

During fan operation, sensing is constant and on.  As a hand or human flesh crosses a preset virtual barrier, the fan engages the stopping mechanism averting injury.  The fan can be reset manually by turning it off and on again.  The fan should operate in a typical environment.

Input

Feed from the electrodes.  Specifically, we are monitoring voltage levels of the E-field imaging IC’s.

Output

Light emitting diode (LED) indicating close proximity to the fan blades.  The fan blades stop when human flesh is too close or in contact with them.

Acceptance Tests

The fan should stop when a piece of deli meat is close to or in contact with the fan resulting in insignificant or no damage to the meat.  This should occur in a typical operating environment.
