MDR Specifications:
The team will have Mode One of the SVTS Design Project working:
·The user will be asked to enter a specific angle through MATLAB (okay for this to be hard-coded at MDR time).
·The output of the system will be the sound signal coming from that specific angle.
Steps to Complete Mode One:
Microphone testing:
Various microphones will be tested for sensitivity and a microphone will be selected.
Beam Forming
Beamforming code will be written to: (1) generate beam patterns for various microphone configurations, which will be used to select the spacing of the microphones in the array, and (2) amplify the signal from the desired direction.
Data Conversion:
An 8-channel analog-to-digital converter will be interfaced with MATLAB to convert analog signals from the microphones to digital values on the computer.
Illustrative Example:
·The desired angle in degrees is inputted to the system: θ
·The sound sources in the direction inputted will be amplified and sources in other directions will be mitigated.
·The output will be the sound coming from the sound source in the inputted direction.
