Electronic Dartboard

Statement of the Problem

Background:

While throwing darts at a dart board can be fun, many people often do not know the rules of proper gameplay. No one can seem to agree on the rules, and are too engrossed in the game to keep an accurate and credible score. Rather than get constantly confused and grow frustrated with one’s friends, one should have a system that keeps track of the score for a game automatically and accurately.

The Design:

• Complete automation of scorekeeping, based on landing of dart
• Mimimal to no user input during game play – players should be able to play without paying attention to the system
• Manual overrides for scorekeeping
• Can play more than one game using dart board
• System has an accurate “knowledge” of the rules of appropriate dart games, and keeps score accordingly
• Visual update of score
• Can accommodate a few user settings

Deliverables of the Design Project:

• Custom dart board with on-board electronic systems to keep track of score
• Attachable hardware unit for data processing
