Car Communications System

How many times do you wish you could check up on your car? Maybe you left your headlights on, or your doors unlocked, or maybe right now, someone is even trying to break into your car and your alarm is going off. How could you possibly know unless you are always watching your car directly? What if there was some way you could check up on your car instantly? Well there is now.

We are a group of four undergraduate students at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and are taking the senior design course sequence of ECE 415 and 416 in which we have to engineer and design a fully functional project. We have decided to design a two way car communications system that enables a user to call his or her car to check up on it, as well as enable the car to call the user if the alarm has been activated. With this system, users will no longer need to worry about if they left their headlights on or doors unlocked.

Feel free to browse our site to learn about our project. If you have any questions, feel free to email any of the team members.

On Friday, April 29th, 2005 in the Gunness Student Center in Marcus Hall, there will be a public demo day where each team will be presenting projects. Here, we will present a working prototype of our project which will be available for view by all. It will be installed in a physical car and will be demonstrating using a cellular phone to call the car and to perform various functions.
