This is the student version of Ansoft Serenade, a powerful CAD program for microwave analysis and design, and will be our default simulation program for ECE 585. It runs under Win98/2000/NT/XP. Similar CAD programs are available from Agilent and other vendors.

Agilent's Advanced Design Software (ADS) is an industry-leading microwave-RF simulation package. Click here for an extensive PDF doc describing the software's capabilities. ADS is not priced for student purchase and a student version is not available (to my knowledge).

Here is a free(!)and powerful microwave-RF CAD program from HP, which includes passive circuits (including microstrip, stripline, ...), active circuits, circuit design, and some very useful engineering tools (check out the Complex Math Calculator for RF circuits.) You'll like this one. I've run it on Win2000 but don't know about 98 or XP.

This is a free and very useful interactive Smith Chart, useful for S-parameter import/export, stability, gain, and noise circles, from the University of Applied Sciences in Berne, Switzerland. This runs on all Windows platforms.

Here is a very useful transmission line calculator for microstrip, stripline, coplanar waveguide, grounded CPW, and slot line, from Applied Wave Research. You can download this, and run the file under Windows.

Here's a program that displays waves on transmission lines. Pretty basic stuff, but interesting. Written by Greg Schussman at Univ. of California Davis. This works only on Windows machines.

Here's an easy-to-use calculator that converts among S-parameters, Z-parameters, Y-parameters, hybrid parameters, etc. Runs on Win machines.

This is a linear circuit simulator with schematic capture, S parameter files, stability circles, auto match, filter designer, attenuator designer and RF calculator. From HyDesign Ltd. Runs under Win95/98/NT. Free download.
