Welcome to the ECE 211 laboratory, which has two major components:

· The Circuits Lab is a hands-on, hardware lab meeting in Marston 221, where circuits are built and explored.  It will make use of the Elenco Digital Multimeter, part of the kit which is a required purchase for this course.  The major pieces of equipment in the lab are pictured and briefly described here.

· The PC lab is a virtual lab and does not meet at a defined time; you will use the PC labs of the Engineering College (or your own PC) to run PSpice to simulate circuits and analyze their behavior.  PSpice is powerful circuit analysis software and its Evaluation Version 8.0 can be copied freely and legally.

· There are five Circuits experiments and five PC experiments during the term, listed here.

Some tips for debugging circuits (either real or virtual) are provided here.

The labs will use various components whose characteristics are described in data sheets and specifications.  Some of these specs are provided here.

The first two weeks of the term are devoted to construction of the Elenco DMM.  Starting on September 24th, the regular experiments will begin and continue to the end of the term, with breaks at school vacations and during exam weeks.
