Design of a Vehicular Antenna for GPS and Iridium Systems using a Genetic Algorithm

Abstract

In this paper we describe an antenna that will operate over the band from about 1225 MHz to 1630 MHz and thus cover both GPS and IRIDIUM frequencies. This antenna radiates nominal RHCP at elevation angles above about 5? and was designed with a process that uses a genetic algorithm in conjunction with an electromagnetic code.
