Geoff is a post doctorate working with Professor W. Curt Conner at the Department of Chemical Engineering, UMass. The project under investigation is microwave synthesis of zeolites, which is funded by the National Science Fund as a NIRT project. The aim of the project is to determine the mechanism of the rapid synthesis of zeolite materials using microwave heating. The understanding of the fundamental processes that occur will then be used to engineer the microwave reactors to optimize the production of zeolites. This project is a collaboration between 5 departments and 2 Universities (UMass and UConn) combining the expertise of spectroscopy, materials, microwave engineering and theoretical simulation. Geoff's background is in spectroscopy and materials science.
