 About the Conference

This is the only international conference that focuses exclusively on computer-aided design for chemical processing. The Foundations of Computer Aided Process Design (FOCAPD '99) is the fifth international conference in this series. These conferences bring together engineers, scientists, faculty and graduate students from universities, government laboratories, processing industries, and technology companies to share, assess and critique results, and to influence future directions of computer-aided process design.

At the beginning of the conference, draft copies of the papers will be distributed to participants. All papers will be reviewed and published in final form as a volume in the AIChE Symposium Series after the Conference. The Symposium volume will be mailed to all attendees.

A format of morning and evening technical sessions will leave afternoons flexible for informal discussions, demonstrations, or recreational activities. The technical sessions will have two or three speakers except for one session with shorter papers or posters on promising new approaches and recent research results. All sessions will have ample time allocated for questions and discussion.

Many of the conference benefits come from informal discussions among the participants. To promote these interactions, the attendance will be limited. Selection will be based on the level of involvement and experience of the applicants in computer-aided design or in complementary or new areas, with priority given to qualified early applicants. Please apply as soon as possible but no later than by January 15, 1999; applicants will be notified of their acceptance as soon as a decision has been made but no later than February 1, 1999.
