Student Opportunities
Graduate Students
CEERE may have opportunities for graduate research assistants, who
will pursue their M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
while working approximately 20 hours/week in the Industrial Assessment Center (IAC). Thesis research topics related to clean energy technologies will be determined based on research needs and the background and interest of the student.
We seek graduate students who
- Have a B.S. degree in mechanical or industrial engineering, or a related field
- Are interested in energy technology areas such as industrial energy use and demand-side management, district energy, microgrids, combined heat and power, and energy storage (those with other interests can review a full list of research labs and centers in our department, including the Wind Energy Center)
- Are eligible for admission to the University of Massachusetts Graduate School in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department
- Have good oral and written communication skills
Graduate assistants receive a tuition scholarship, a stipend of approximately $22,000 per year, and medical insurance.
