Architectural Details of the Training Center at McGuirk Stadium include an architectural mockup. This defines and checks how the construction and finishes will be applied to the cantilever shown.
Atypical stair is shown on the left. One unusual feature here is the exposed steel stair shown in the other photos, which took a very long time to fit and weld in place, a costly but aesthetic feature.
We got to see some of the roofing material being installed as well. The first photo shows the layers above the roof deck which include insullation, water barriers, support and roof material. At seams between roofing sheets and details such as the elevation change and penetrations attention to sealing the joints and allowing for movement are critical to prevent leaks.
Below are some of the typical details for attaching cladding. Cold formed steel is used to attach the cladding system to the floors and roof. Insulation is shown applied before the final finishes were attached. More detailing was required where some large windows are included so the cladding must be supported laterally from the floors.
