D. Kelly O’Day, P.E.

 

D. Kelly O’Day is the Vice President at Woodard & Curran.  He has been involved in the planning, design, construction, operations, and management of water and wastewater facilities for over 30 years.  As part of this work, he has implemented information technology systems for utility operations and maintenance. 

 

Prior to working at Woodard & Curran, O’Day directed the 360 person Waterworks Operations department at Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA).  While at MWRA, he planned and implemented an integrated Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system (see below), shifted from attended to unattended operation of facilities, and identified and corrected problems with treatment and distribution water quality.  He was also active in process optimization and productivity analysis.

 

O’Day received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland and an MS in Environmental Engineering from Drexel University.  He is also a registered Professional Engineer in PA and a licensed drinking water treatment operator in MA. 

 

His teaching experiences include a 15-year position as an adjunct professor in Villanova’s graduate Environmental Engineering program where he taught water resources and water quality modeling.  He has also taught several in-house training sessions for SCADA, maintenance and utility management, water quality and process control.
