Dr. Zhang is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at UMass Lowell . Dr. Zhang received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Cincinnati in 1999. She joined UMass Lowell in 2002; prior to that, she was an Assistant Professor of the University of Missouri Rolla. Dr. Zhang received her B.S. from Tongji University in 1989 and M.S. from Tsinghua University in 1994. Dr. Zhang's research interests include biological wastewater treatment using biofilm systems, pollutant and bacterial removal from stormwater, and nutrients removal. She has been an active member of Water Environment Federation, American Society of Microbiology, International Water Association, and Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors.
