Transportation Systems Engineering and Planning, Intelligent
Transportation Systems, and Public Transportation Systems
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Since January 1976, Dr. Collura has been involved in transportation
education and research. From 1976 to 1997 he was here at UMass and from
1998 to 2004 was in the Department of Civil Engineering at Virginia Tech.
His teaching responsibilities include teaching courses in transportation
engineering, transportation systems analysis, advanced transportation
technologies, and public transportation. Dr. Collura has substantial
experience in conducting research in the application of advanced
information and computer technologies in transportation planning,
management, design, and operations. His ongoing projects involve
electronic toll/fare collection, traveler information systems,
incident management, and traffic signal systems.
