North Canal Bridge

North Canal - Lawrence

The lenticular bridge spanning the North Canal in Lawrence is a five panel Pony Truss. The bridge is currently closed and has been extensively modified, with at least one of it's top chord members replaced. On the south end, the original top chord, which consists of rivetted plates and angle, has been replaced with welded plates and channel sections. The lower chords appear to be original 4 in. x 1 in. flat eye bars. The bridge has a total span of 83 ft. and is completely pin connected. The bridge has tapered vertical members connecting the top and bottom chords and appears very similar in design to the Golden Hill Road and Gilbert Road bridges.
