Located at universities or state highway agencies, LTAP centers work in partnership with state departments of transportation and FHWA. Support for the centers comes from the federal LTAP funds, state departments of transportation, the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), universities, local agencies, and finances designated by state legislation. The program is directed by the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Professional Development. National LTAP Association This is the official site for the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) or Technology Transfer (T2) organization. ITS America - Intelligent Transportation Society of America The goal of ITS is to increase the safety and efficiency of surface transportation using advance technologies. CITE - Consortium for ITS Training and Education Web-based ITS Training source that is flexible, just-in-time, and interactive. CEUs are available in courses ranging from traffic signal timing to Evaluating ITS Projects. AASHTO - American Association of State Highway and Trasnsportation Officials AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. AASHTO's aim is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system. ASCE - American Society of Civil Engineers The ASCE website allows you to search their database for people and projects. The public can research and understand the history of civil engineering. Asphalt Institute The Asphalt Institute is a U.S. based association of international petroleum asphalt producers, manufacturers, and affiliated businesses. Its mission is to promote the use, benefits and quality performance of petroleum asphalt. USDOT - US Department of Transportation You can find out information about the Department’s organization, key officials, mission and other important information. APCA - American Portland Cement Association This organization heightens the cement industry's visibility at the federal level by participating in the legislative and regulatory processes, which play a crucial role in cement-making operations and the construction markets they serve. APWA - American Public Works Association The American Public Works Association is an international educational and professional association of public agencies, private sector companies, and individuals dedicated to providing high quality public works goods and services. > APWA New England Chapter Web Site NTL - National Transportation Library NTL improves the availability of transportation-related information needed by Federal, state and local decision-makers. Massachusetts - Official Massachusetts Website You will be able to find information about the Commonwealth's elected officials, laws, history, symbols, tourist destinations, etc. Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy Information pertinent to consumer protection in trasportation, utilities, and energy. Massachusetts Executive Office of Transportation (EOT) EOTs mission is to provide economic vitality and a better quality of life by safely and efficiently moving people and goods within and through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. EOT Oversees the activities of MassHighway, the Massachusetts Aeronautics Commission, the MBTA, RTAs, the Massachusetts RMV, the Turnpike Authority, and MassPort. Massachusetts - Operational Services Division (OSD) The Operational Services Division (OSD) facilitates and audits the acquisition of commodities, professional, general, human and social services that support the socio-economic goals of the Commonwealth including disadvantaged business, environmental, and other programs that are in the best interest of the Commonwealth. Additionally, OSD has the responsibility for the administration of printing, fleet operations and surplus personal property disposition. MassHighway - The Massachusetts Highway Department MassHighway is responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of the state highways and bridges in Massachusetts. MHA - The Massachusetts Highway Association The Massachusetts Highway Association (MHA) is an umbrella organization which encompasses seven county highway associations: Barnstable, Plymouth, Norfolk/Bristol/Middlesex, Worcester, Berkshire, Essex and Tri-County. Founded in 1893 with a membership of 51, the Massachusetts Highway Association today boasts a membership of more than 750. MHA membership comprises of highway officials, including directors, engineers, and superintendents involved in all phases of highway related activities. MBTA - Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority This is the nation's oldest and fourth largest transportation system. You can find schedules, maps, fares, or even purchase a pass online. Mass Turnpike Authority The Mass Turnpike Authority, in conjunction with the Metropolitan Highway System and the Central Artery/Ted Williams Tunnel Project welcomes you to this site where you can find out information about the Mass Pike, Big Dig or Central Artery construction. Central Artery Program At this website you can view images of progress on the "Big Dig," look at project maps, current expenses, planning proposals, equipment or different routes to take during rush hours. COMM-PASS - Commonwealth of Massachusetts' Procurement Access & Solicitation System A site for procurement and solicitation in the Commonwealth. DCR - Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation The DCR was formed by the merger of the Department of Environmental Management and the Metropolitan District Commission in July 2003. DEP - Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection This state agency isresponsible for protecting human health and the environment by ensuring clean air and water, the safe management and disposal of solid and hazardous wastes, the timely cleanup of hazardous waste sites and spills, and the preservation of wetlands and coastal resources. Massachusetts State Police The site offers access to crime statistics, terms of licensing, missing persons, wanted persons, driving regulations and many more resources. Safe Routes to School The Massachusetts Safe Routes to School program promotes healthy alternatives for children and parents in their travel to and from school. The SRTS program educates students, parents and community members on the value of walking, bicycling, carpooling, and taking public transit and the school bus for travel to and from school. Superpave Center Strategic Highway Research Program (SHRP) conducted a $50 million research effort to develop new ways to specify, test, and design asphalt materials. The final product of the SHRP asphalt research program is a new system referred to as Superpave, which stands for Superior Performing Asphalt Pavements. It represents an improved system for specifying the components of asphalt concrete, asphalt mixture design and analysis, and asphalt pavement performance prediction. NAPA - National Asphalt Pavement Association NAPA's staff consists of professionals ready to help its members learn the latest technology, understand environmental issues, gain market share, and receive training. NAPA is the most valuable resource in the Hot Mix Asphalt industry. The Association, which counts more than 1,100 companies as its members, was founded in 1955. MaCAPA - Massachusetts Concrete & Aggregate Producers Assn.
