Lodging

The 1997 Fall Technical Meeting will be held at the Sheraton Hartford Hotel at 315 Trumbull St. in Hartford, Connecticut. A blocks of rooms has been reserved at $83/night ($71.43, Govt. rate) plus 12% tax until October 14, after which neither rates nor availability are guaranteed. Travel

By air: Bradley International Airport, located just 12 miles outside Hartford, is served by most major air carriers. Numerous taxicab, limousine and bus companies provide ground transportation. Taxi service is about $11 per person ($21 round trip) via Airport Connection, 860-627-3400. In addition, eight rental car companies operate out of Bradley: Airways, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, and National.

By train or bus: The Sheraton Hartford is located approximately 1/3-mile from the Amtrak/bus station (see map above at Asylum and Union Place).

By auto: Hartford is located at the intersection of Interstates 84 and 9 in central Connecticut. Travel time from either New York and Boston is about 2-1/2 hours. Cars can be parked at the hotel for $8/day.

Welcome Reception and Registration

A welcome reception and registration will be held from 6 to 9 pm on Sunday evening at the Sheraton Hartford. In addition, a reception will be held on Monday from 6 to 7:30 pm. A banquet (optional, $20) will be held Tuesday evening at 7:30 pm, preceded by a cash bar. The registration fee covers the announcements, abstracts of the papers, audiovisual equipment, and refreshments.

Student Presentations

Honoraria of $150 will be given to non-local (at least 50 miles away) students who personally present a paper at the meeting. Local students who present papers will receive $50. Please identify yourself to the session chair and to Prof. Clarke Hermance, the ESS/CI Treasurer.
